Is there really a difference between grocery stores and the prices they charge?
How about these comparisons:
- Chicken Breast, Boneless/Skinless
- Fred's - $1.99/lb (4 lb pkg, frozen)
- Albertson's - $2.33/lb (3 lb pkg, frozen
- Safeway - $2.99/lb (Random, Fresh)
- Cheese
- Fred's - $2.50/lb (Kroger Brand)
- Safeway - $3.32/lb (Lucerne Slices cost less than blocks this week)
- Albertson's - $3.99/lb (Tillamook)
- Mangoes
- Safeway - $.99/ea
- Fred's - $1.25/ea (Organic)
- Albertson's - $1.49
- Strawberries
- Safeway - $1.47/lb (4 lb pkg)
- Fred's - $1.67/lb
- Albertson's - $2.50/lb
I pulled these comparisons directly from our pricing pages in about 2 minutes total. And I know, some of the comparisons are not exactly equivalant: Fresh chicken is inherently better than frozen, but is it worth a dollar a pound more? Sometimes yes, sometimes no; depends what you're making, doesn't it? But that's something YOU need to decide. And maybe you don't want 4 pounds of strawberries, but wouldn't you like to know what a good bulk price is this week before you buy a smaller package?
Our job here at www.GroceryBagSavings.com is to provide the tools and information for you to make those kinds of choices and decisions: all of the info you need is on our main pricing pages. Sort the complete price list any way you want by clicking on the column headings; or, if you only want to know who has the cheapest hamburger or potatoes this week, narrow it to a category first (meat, produce, etc) and then sort those items the same way.
